Department of Electronics & Communication organized state level short term training programme (STTP) on "OFDM 5G MIMO Communication Technologies and its applications" at its Gandhi Nagar campus from 8 April 2019 to 10 April 2019. The training was sponsored by Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) under TEQIP-III. More than 60+ students and 20+ faculty members participated from all across Madhya Pradesh.
On day one after the inaugural ceremony Dr. Saif Khan Mohammad, Prof & In charge first 5G lab in India, IIT Delhi took a session on introduction of MIMO and 5G technology, later concepts of convolution were discussed, In the last session of day concept of spectral efficiency and channel estimation of MIMO were discussed and some key insights on the optimization of spectral efficiency were given.
Day 2 of this training programme, started with the lecture of Prof. Padamja Chenapragda, Associate Professor, GNTU, Hyderabad on MIMO, on Channel Estimation, OFDM advantages, Spectral Efficiency, bit error rate and various bands. Second half session of this day had a lecture on CDMA, Spread Spectrum technologies followed by session on cognitive radio & relay technology by Prof. Dr. Paresh Rawat, HoD ECE, SISTec - Gandhinagar, Bhopal.
10th April was day 3 of this training programme, the day started with the expert talk by Mr. Shubhendu Tiwari, PGM (Principal General Manager) BSNL MP/CG, Mr. Tiwari gave insights on all generations of cellular communication 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G, about call establishment, GSM security, Billing and NPDB, the protocols used in cellular signaling, MSC, RNC, BTS, HLR, VLR, location update and call paging etc. The other Speaker of the day was Dr. Liladhar Malviya, Prof. SGSITS, Indore, Dr. Malviya has completed his Phd from IIT Roorkee recently on MIMO antenna design. Dr. Malviya discussed about MIMO antennas in afternoon session, the last session of day was a hands-on session on MIMO antenna design over CST tool used for antenna modelling.
Overall aim of the STTP was to cover the theoretical and practical aspects of course curriculum of EC 8th semester and EC 6th semester.
